The Table, will bring together the women artists of the gallery in a celebration of female artists. Inspired by the iconic work of Judy Chicago, Dinner Party, the exhibition’s focus will be on the unique dialogue between women and art. Women artists have often been overlooked and have historically not been given the recognition of their male peers. In the 1970’s Judy Chicago sought to highlight this disparity with her large-scale installation of a dining table set with place settings for women from history.
This exhibition will honor the legacy of this seminal work of art while also exploring the current voices and perspectives of women in the arts. Each artist will have a place at the metaphorical and physical table in the gallery. Visitors will be encouraged to ruminate on how these differing perspectives from the artists but also how being women has given each of these artists unique views into the world around us.
